Contxt in Claude & ChatGPT

Fact-checked briefs, with the receipts, right in your chat

What it does

Ask Claude or ChatGPT for a Contxt brief on any news story, claim, headline, or article link. Contxt researches it and your chat shows the brief as a Contxt card: what's confirmed, the background, and who said what, each tied to its source.

Tap Full brief for everything: the quotes word for word, the receipts (the original documents and posts, with previews), and the news coverage, with each outlet's country. Every brief also has its own page on contxt.news to read or share.

Add it to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. (Once Contxt is in Claude's connector directory, you can add it from there instead.)
  2. Name it Contxt and use this URL: https://contxt.news/mcp
  3. Choose No sign-in. Contxt doesn't need an account.
  4. In a chat, open the + menu and switch Contxt on under Connectors. Then ask for a brief by name, e.g. "Get me a Contxt brief on…"

Contxt works on Claude's free and paid plans, on the web, desktop, and mobile apps. Where an app can't show the card, the brief comes as text instead.

Add it to ChatGPT

  1. On chatgpt.com, open Plugins, select + and choose Add custom MCP server. (Contxt is in review for ChatGPT's plugin directory. Once it's listed, you can add it from there instead.)
  2. Name it Contxt and use this server URL: https://contxt.news/mcp
  3. Choose No authentication. Contxt doesn't need an account.
  4. Accept the notice about custom servers and click Create.
  5. In a chat, type @ and pick Contxt, then ask for a brief.

Add it on the web. Your account has to allow custom servers; in Business and Enterprise workspaces, an admin may need to turn that on first. Once added, Contxt works in ChatGPT on the web and in the apps.

Try asking

Get me a Contxt brief on the Supreme Court's latest immigration ruling. Use Contxt on this link: [paste a news article] Is it true that [a claim you saw online]? Check it with Contxt. What's on Contxt today? Show me the full brief. / What are the receipts? / Show me the quotes.

What your chat can do with it

Contxt only reads and writes news briefs. It can't see your conversation or do anything else on your behalf.

Limits

Contxt is free. To keep it that way, there's a daily limit on new briefs written through Claude and ChatGPT for everyone combined. When it's reached, today's briefs and existing briefs still open, and you can always search at contxt.news.

Privacy

Contxt receives only what Claude or ChatGPT sends when it uses Contxt, such as the story to brief, which the assistant writes from your request. It never receives your conversation, your account, or any images you share. That text stays private; the brief it produces is public to anyone with its link, like every Contxt brief, and isn't tied to you. Details are in our privacy policy.
