These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and CONTXT LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("Contxt," "we"). They cover contxt.news, the Contxt browser extension, and Contxt in AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT, together "Contxt." By using Contxt, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Contxt. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data.
What Contxt is
Contxt researches news stories and writes briefs using AI models, search services, and public sources. Briefs are for information only. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, including in how they present a source, quote, or fact. They aren't legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Check the linked sources before relying on a brief, and don't make important decisions based on Contxt alone.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 to use Contxt. If you use Contxt on behalf of an organization, you agree to these terms for it. You can stop using Contxt at any time, for example by removing the connector from your AI assistant or uninstalling the extension.
Using Contxt responsibly
Please don't:
- Break the law, or use Contxt to harass, defame, or harm anyone.
- Submit content you don't have the right to share, or other people's private information.
- Overload, disrupt, or attack Contxt, or get around its limits, such as daily caps.
- Scrape or bulk-download briefs, or access Contxt by automated means other than its supported integrations, such as connecting it to an AI assistant.
- Collect briefs in bulk to build a competing service or dataset, or to train AI models.
- Alter a brief and present it as Contxt's.
We may limit, suspend, or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts Contxt or its users at risk.
What you submit, and the briefs
You keep whatever rights you have in what you submit: searches, links, screenshots, and feedback. You allow Contxt to use it to research and write your brief and to run and improve Contxt, as our Privacy Policy describes. Every brief is saved and public to anyone with its link, so don't submit anything you wouldn't want reflected in a public brief. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Sources and other people's content
Briefs quote, link to, and show previews of news articles, official documents, and social posts. That content belongs to its owners. Contxt shows it to report on the news, always with a link to the original. If you own content and believe Contxt uses it improperly, email us and we'll review it promptly.
Contxt's name, logo, design, brief format, and software belong to CONTXT LLC. You're welcome to share links to briefs and the share images Contxt creates. Please don't copy Contxt's software or design.
Other services
Contxt links to other websites and works inside other services, such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Chrome. Those have their own terms and policies, and we aren't responsible for them.
No warranties
Contxt is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change or stop any part of Contxt at any time.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, CONTXT LLC and its members, managers, and contractors won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Contxt or reliance on a brief. Our total liability for any claim about Contxt is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us for Contxt in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow some of these limits; where that's so, they apply as far as the law allows.
If your misuse of Contxt or breach of these terms leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about Contxt or these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll update this page and its date. Continuing to use Contxt after a change means you accept the updated terms. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
